Halfway there ...
Totaled up my Baptized in Formaldehyde sales the other night, and found I'm close to the halfway point of breaking even financially on the project (not including promotional expenses, etc.). Which isn't bad ...
Don't know if I'll get much of a chance to unload any copies this week. I'm going to see Bruce Cockburn Friday up in Somerville, which means Thursday will probably be hang-out-with-the-family day, leaving no free time for Baptized promotional activities. There is a poetry-type thing up at the Brockton Library next Saturday afternoon before work, so there's a good chance I might drop by that. There's one on Nantucket Sunday as well, but unfortuately I have to work that day. Otherwise, it'd be my first visit to the the island since 1980, when I was - gasp! - Miss Littlechild's age. I guess they hold one every month, so maybe I'll shoot for making one in June or July - we'll see ...
I am doing a direct mailing campaign to reach those folks I know who aren't quite as Internet-saavy as I am. I'm just wondering if I should include a pre-addressed envelope with the three sheets of promotional material with it (unstamped, of course) just to make it all that much easier on the sender and bring them that much closer to shrugging, saying "eh - what the hell" and writing a check. Guess it couldn't hurt, though I'll have to see if Mama G could print up some labels for me ...
Labels: Baptized in formaldehyde, brockton, bruce cockburn, Mama G, Miss Littlechild, nantucket, somerville

Don,
If you're going to use direct-mail, you should try to go with postcards. They're now much more cost-effective than anything in an envelope, due to new postal rates. You learn these kinds of things when working for a business mag.
